Himeji Graffiti

Came across an infuriating story [Edit: Link removed--no longer available] in The Daily Yomiuri today. 25 of 28 rooms inside the castle will be closed due to an alarming increase in graffiti. Very sad to see Japan's grandest authentic castle whittled away at on the inside like this. Guess people must prefer their historical experience served with "authentic" video cameras. What a parasitic attempt at making one's name known at the expense of a building that has existed unscathed for over four centuries.

  4. It seems like most of graffiti are names of the visitors written in hiragana or kanji.
