Kinkakuji: Inspiring Writers Since 1623



"The Golden Pavilion glitters in the water’s depths. . ."

While not in the northeast of Kyoto, I did refer to Kinkakuji in my post about Ginkakuji. Soon after sharing it, I recalled a Jozan connection. On September 8, 1623, Ishikawa attended a moon viewing party there and wrote a poem that can be found in Shisendo: Hall of Poetry Immortals. I took the picture shown above during my first visit to Kyoto, on Christmas Day, 1997.
